3. Take A Ferry To The North

Even though just the sound of raw herring might be a turn off, but it is something every visitor should try. You’ll spot herring carts all over the city, which serve this Dutch delicacy. We highly recommend the ‘boordje haring’; it is a fish sandwich which is served with onions and pickles.

While a lot of the tourists can be found making their way to the busy shopping malls, people who are in the know will tell you to head to the local independent stores instead. One of the most popular streets that offers retails therapy in shape of these local stores is De Negen Straatjes. It’s a beautiful cobbled street which houses over 200 retailers, which include vintage shops and local budding designers.
